Luxury on the Lake 2!

Principal cellist Nancy Ives at Dr. Louis and Judy McCraw s gorgeous home, right on Lake Oswego.
While hiking recently in Belize, Nancy was inspired to create this evening’s program. In her own words: “The 20th century saw the emergence of the cello from the shadow of the violin thanks to greats like Pablo, Slava and Yo-Yo. (That’s Casals, Rostropovitch and Ma, of course!) I am always aware of how we cellists today walk in their footsteps — beauty, technique, repertoire and humanity. This summer, I’m doing a blog project focused on the Bach Suites, so Casals is on my mind. He’s the one who brought the Suites into the repertoire and his performances made the whole world fall in love with them. He inspired composers and collaborators, and did some composing himself. Music related to Pablo!”
$75 per person.
